Marshawn Lynch Joins Hockey Diversity Alliance S Summerfest

The Hockey Diversity Alliance is hosting its youth SummerFest in Toronto, featuring a football element with former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch as a special guest.

Hockey Diversity Alliance Mission

The HDA was launched in 2020 by current and former NHL players of color to speak out against racism and intolerance, and to open hockey to minorities and underserved youth by providing free hockey equipment, hosting clinics, and renting ice time.

Lynch will compete in a celebrity ball hockey game and host a football clinic at the HDA’s fourth festival on Saturday. The former Seattle Seahawks player and 2014 Super Bowl champion has previously participated in the HDA’s WinterFest.

HDA chairman Akim Aliu estimated the organization has spent about $1.1 million annually in its grassroots mission and has expanded beyond the Toronto region, launching programs in Los Angeles, New York, Montreal, Nova Scotia, and preparing to add Calgary, Alberta, next month.
