Marshalltown city leaders voted 4-3 to amend the city code, allowing livestock and poultry on residentially zoned properties of five acres or more. The change excludes roosters.
Background
The decision followed a violation of the existing rule by Appleberry Farm. Enforcement against Appleberry Farm will be extended until after ordinance readings, allowing the farm to keep its animals during the code-change process. The ordinance requires three readings before it can go into effect.
