The Marion County Public Health Department is taking steps to prevent the spread of diseases carried by insects and rodents. Residents can request free mosquito spraying and rodent control services for their homes.
Rodent Control
If a home is infested with rats or other rodents, the health department can send a rodent control expert to assess the situation and provide baits if necessary. The department also lends equipment to neighborhoods to clean up trash and litter, which can attract rodents.
Mosquito Control
Mosquito season in Indiana runs from May to October, and these insects can carry serious diseases like West Nile Virus. The Marion County Public Health Department offers chemical sprays to kill adult mosquitoes and larvae, as well as guidance on eliminating breeding areas.
Residents can visit the Marion County Mosquito Control office at 4001 E. 21st St. or call 317-221-7440 to request services.
