Marine veteran Ruslan Kolb serves Lubbock community as North Division patrol officer

After serving eight years with the Rock Springs Police Department in Wyoming, Marine veteran Ruslan Kolb answered a new call to serve his adopted hometown of Lubbock, Texas. He joined the Lubbock Police Department a year ago and now patrols the North Division, where he works to keep neighborhoods safe while embodying the values of faith, family, and personal liberty.

From the Marines to Lubbock streets

Kolb grew up in Rock Springs, Wyoming, and after completing his service in the United States Marine Corps he chose a career in law enforcement. “I wanted to continue my service on a local level,” he explained. “Being an officer lets me protect the community while living out the principles I learned in the military and in my faith.”

Why Lubbock?

Kolb and his wife decided to relocate to Texas for a fresh start and a stronger sense of community. “We found our calling here,” he said, noting the welcoming atmosphere of Lubbock and the department’s commitment to professional policing. The move allowed him to bring his experience to a city that values traditional families and individual liberty.

Approach to stress and duty

Kolb acknowledges that police work can be demanding, but he relies on perspective and preparation to manage pressure. “Stress is part of life and everything is a matter of perspective,” he said. He emphasizes training the mind and body as the best defense against stressful situations, a mindset he cultivated during his Marine service.

Honors and personal life

Throughout his career, Kolb has been honored for his dedication and professionalism. He credits the disciplined environment of both the military and law‑enforcement for shaping his character. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their four dogs, weightlifting, and recently taking up golf.

Community impact

Kolb’s presence on the North Division patrol has been welcomed by residents who appreciate his steady, respectful approach. “What is for you will not pass you,” he says, a reminder of his belief that hard work and integrity will be rewarded. His story underscores the importance of veterans continuing to serve their communities in civilian roles, reinforcing the fabric of Lubbock’s neighborhoods.

Looking ahead

As Kolb marks his first year with the department, he remains focused on building trust, protecting families, and upholding the Constitution. He hopes his example will inspire other veterans and citizens to consider public service as a way to strengthen their hometowns.
