A man has died after an incident on a Metro-North train in Fairfield on Thursday. Metro-North police responded to the Southport station for a disorderly person around 1:30 p.m. Arriving officers learned there was a confrontation on the train and one of those involved climbed between two train cars and onto the top of one of the cars, according to police. The man came in contact with the electrified overhead catenary line. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
No one on the train was injured. Train service on the New Haven Line was disrupted and was experiencing approximately 60-minute delays.
