A man has drowned in the Gulf off of Fort Morgan, Alabama, while trying to help his son, who was struggling while swimming.
Yesterday evening, the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a swimmer in distress, along with Fort Morgan Fire/Rescue.
A man and his son had entered the water, and the father had tried to help his son. Both of them were brought back to shore, where lifesaving measures were immediately initiated, the sheriff’s office says.
The man was taken to a hospital where he later died. He was 40 years old and not a resident of Baldwin County. At this time, the sheriff’s office says it will not be releasing his name.
The boy is safe and receiving care.
