A 30-year-old man is facing multiple charges, including kidnapping, after police say he took an 8-month-old child during a domestic disturbance early Thursday morning in Colorado Springs.
Incident Details
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance in the 2900 block of Hudson Street around 3:34 a.m. on June 25. Police say when they arrived, they contacted a woman involved in the disturbance. The male suspect, identified as 30-year-old Marco Alberico, was intoxicated, possibly armed with a handgun, and had fled the area in a vehicle with the woman’s 8-month-old son inside.
Officers discovered that Alberico was not the child’s father and had no parental rights, and that the child was unrestrained in the vehicle. Multiple officers began searching for the vehicle and were led to an apartment complex in the 2800 block of West Serendipity Circle. A sergeant with the department’s Real Time Crime Center deployed a drone, which located the vehicle parked in the complex’s parking lot.
Officers say they found the vehicle unoccupied and began searching the area. During the search, an unrelated individual approached officers with the child. According to police, Alberico was then found inside an apartment and taken into custody.
