Magnitude Wins Stephen Foster Stakes

Magnitude, the Dubai World Cup winner, led every step of the way to win the 45th running of the $2 million Stephen Foster Stakes at Churchill Downs. The victory capped another successful day at Churchill Downs for jockey Jose Ortiz Jr.

Stephen Foster Stakes Results

Magnitude defeated Grade I Pennsylvania Derby winner Baeza by 1 ¼ lengths. Reigning Horse of the Year and Kentucky Derby 151 winner Sovereignty finished four lengths back in third as the 4-5 favorite.

The win earned Magnitude an automatic entry for the $7 million Longines Classic, which is set for Oct. 31 at Keeneland.
