Luigi Mangione, the 28-year-old charged in connection with the December 2024 fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, is scheduled to appear in court Friday for a federal case hearing.
The hearing comes after Mangione appeared in state court Tuesday, which is expected to be his last appearance before his trial next month.
Mangione has pleaded not guilty to federal stalking charges and is set to go to trial in January 2027.
It is unclear what Friday’s hearing is intended to address, but in June, CNN reported that Mangione’s attorneys had previously spoken with federal prosecutors about a potential plea deal, which was not reached.
