Louisville is planning a big day of celebrations for America’s 250th birthday on July 4th. The events will start at sunrise with a breakfast at Historic Locust Grove, where attendees can see the sunrise over the place where Louisville began.
Events at Locust Grove
The events at Locust Grove will run from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. and will celebrate the contributions of folks to Kentucky from all backgrounds. After the events at Locust Grove, the focus will shift to Metro Hall, where the festivities will continue with a reading of the Declaration by the Broadway Across America cast of Hamilton, a multi-airplane flyover, and a poem by Lonnie Ali.
The day will conclude on the Great Lawn at Waterfront Park, where live music, food, and a kids’ area are all planned, with fireworks capping off the evening. The Frazier History Museum will also be opening its newest exhibit, ‘I Too Am a Kentuckian,’ and offering free admission to those who say ‘I, too, am a Kentuckian’ at the ticket counter between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
