Christian Pulisic, the US national team’s most accomplished player, has his roots in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The town, known as the ‘Sweetest Place on Earth,’ is where Pulisic grew up and learned to play soccer.
Pulisic’s Early Life
Pulisic was born in Hershey on September 18, 1998, to Kelley and Mark Pulisic, both former collegiate soccer players. His father played pro indoor soccer for the Harrisburg Heat. The family moved to England for a year, where Pulisic played for the Brackley Town youth team.
Pulisic’s hometown roots run deep, and during the World Cup, his community has rallied around him. Young soccer players in Hershey look up to Pulisic as a role model. Cecelia Stefanelli, a rising freshman at Hershey High School, said, ‘It’s pretty amazing that he came from Hershey and played for my club.’
Pulisic’s Soccer Career
Pulisic joined PA Classics at the age of 10 and played for eight years. The club’s president and co-founder, Doug Harris, said Pulisic’s talent allowed him to play with older age groups. Pulisic often credits the structure and coaches at PA Classics with helping develop his skills.
Pulisic’s path to USMNT stardom ran through Hershey. He played for the US national team in the World Cup, and his community is proud of his accomplishments. As the US plays in the round of 32, Pulisic’s hometown is cheering him on.
