Argent LNG announced it has received authorization from the U.S. Department of Energy to export up to 25 million metric tons of liquified natural gas annually to countries that have a Free Trade Agreement with the United States.
Export Terminal Details
The LNG export terminal will be built at Port Fourchon in Lafourche Parish, approximately 70 miles south-southwest of New Orleans. Argent expects to begin operations in the first quarter of 2030 and start construction in late 2027.
Argent has filed separately to export LNG to countries that do not have a Free Trade Agreement with the United States, and this application remains under review. The company has announced memorandums of understanding supporting potential LNG supply agreements with Ukraine, Bangladesh, and Turkey.
