Logansport, IN – As the 2026 football season approaches, head coach Kevin Magee reflects on more than a decade of building a program that feels like family. Now in his 13th year at the helm of the Logansport Tigers, Magee emphasizes that the true measure of success is the relationships forged among players, coaches, and the broader community.
Coach‑player connections off the field
“They’re always doing things together. They hang out together. They’re always at my house,” Magee said. “I see them a lot outside of just coach‑player. Those relationships and personal connections have been really fun and have developed over the past 12‑15 years.”
For senior wide receiver and safety Kaiton Packett, the locker room feels like an extension of family. “It’s always fun. It’s always been more than football, you know, family. We go out and eat at Coach Magee’s house, swim, do whatever. It creates a chemistry that we wouldn’t have on the football field,” she explained.
Community roots run deep
Junior transfer Bryar Bossier, now a senior, echoed that sentiment. “It means a lot to do whatever it takes for my community. I love everybody around here. It’s just good to be back down here. My family is all from around here,” he said, underscoring the bond between the team and the town.
Since 2015, the Tigers have reached at least the quarterfinals each year, establishing high expectations statewide. Yet Magee stresses that the lasting impact of the program goes beyond wins and losses.
Life lessons beyond the gridiron
“As you get older as a coach, you start to appreciate the things outside of just the wins and losses and X’s and O’s,” Magee reflected. “You see kids mature, they learn life lessons, they understand connections, and they see life beyond graduation. Once they graduate, we become friends, and I believe that to be true.”
