Overnight on Tuesday, thieves targeted Karolina’s Antiques, breaking a window to gain entry. The culprits made off with between 30 and 40 Spurs-themed T-shirts, each valued at approximately $28 to $30. The shop, known for its unique offerings, was preparing for the influx of Spurs fans eager to support their team during the Finals.
Anthony Diaz, representing the family business, expressed frustration over the incident. ‘It’s so frustrating because we’re working around the clock here to bring San Antonio so many amazing things and for them to prepare for the Spurs games,’ Diaz stated. Despite the setback, the family remains undeterred.
Community and Family Resilience
In the wake of the theft, the family shared surveillance footage on social media and promptly filed a police report. Just hours after the incident, family members spotted two individuals they suspect were involved, carrying bags of merchandise near the store. Although police were notified, no arrests have been made yet.
Despite this challenge, Karolina’s Antiques has quickly restocked its merchandise, demonstrating resilience and a commitment to serving the community. ‘This isn’t going to stop us,’ Diaz affirmed. ‘This is just one little instance of ugly things happening, but this doesn’t define who we are. People are still going to come and support. We’re still going on our city, and we’re still going to be here.’
