Washington, Pa. – Jason Dunkle, a longtime resident of Washington County, has unveiled the 2027 edition of his popular Grey Greyhound calendar. The 12‑by‑12‑inch wall calendar showcases his 11‑year‑old Italian Greyhound, Greyson, dressed as a southern gentleman, cowboy, pilgrim, gangster and other Old West characters.
Celebrating a local favorite
Greyson, known for elaborate costumes such as the Grinch, “Mutt Meyers” and Elvis, has become a local celebrity. He won the Woofstock costume contest in 2023 and 2025 and has appeared on the covers of Pet Connections Magazine and VetPet’s 2025 calendar. He also visits the Washington County Italian Festival and entertains residents at nursing homes.
Final chapter of a beloved series
This is the sixth and final calendar in the series, marking Greyson’s 12th birthday in October. Each calendar includes historical facts related to the month’s theme and a personal “paw‑agraph” from Greyson. A tribute to Dunkle’s first Italian Greyhound, Roxy, who passed away in 2021, appears at the back of the book.
Supporting rescue efforts
After covering printing and shipping costs, all remaining proceeds will be donated to the Italian Greyhound Rescue Foundation, continuing a tradition that began with Roxy’s 2015 calendar. Dunkle says the project “feels like the perfect way to bring this journey full circle.”
Behind the scenes
Most costumes were custom‑made by Little Milo’s Closet in Towanda, Ill. Dunkle’s girlfriend, Mona, jokes that he needs to stop buying outfits for the dog, but Dunkle admits the process is “like reliving my childhood.” A Florida‑based designer spent 28 hours on the layout and donated part of her fee to the rescue.
