Jahmyr Gibbs, the Detroit Lions running back, took part in the stretching and walk-through portions of Thursday’s training camp practice. However, he did not join the team for position work, instead working with trainers on an adjacent field.
Gibbs’ Contract Status
Gibbs, 24, has been waiting for the Lions to address his contract status. He is due $1.1 million in base salary and a $2 million roster bonus this season. The team picked up the fifth-year option on his rookie contract, which will pay him a guaranteed $14.29 million in 2027.
Gibbs has been an observer at camp, but his participation in Thursday’s practice may be a sign that a contract resolution is near. The running back has racked up 5,029 yards from scrimmage with 49 touchdowns in 49 games (24 starts) across his first three seasons.
