Northwest Arkansas has a champion to celebrate. Brayden Watson of Lincoln High School is this week’s winner after an outstanding performance in national air rifle competition.
Consistency is Key
Watson earned first place at the digital national competition across all ages and also finished first in the Junior Boys division. The Lincoln High School shooter has been on the team since his sophomore year, though he says he has been shooting semi-automatic rifles his entire life.
Watson says air rifle shooting is “extremely technical,” with success sometimes coming down to the smallest details, including breathing. He also emphasized how personal the sport can be.
According to Watson, success in the sport comes from putting in steady work over time and learning what works best for each individual shooter.
