Le Bon Lebanese Café Announces Fall Opening in Riverstone, Sugar Land

Sugar Land residents can look forward to a new culinary destination this fall as Le Bon, a Lebanese‑style café, prepares to open its first brick‑and‑mortar location in the Riverstone development. The owners, Mohammed Elissa and his wife Walaa Kassem, confirmed the upcoming opening after a soft‑launch period over the summer.

Family recipes meet local demand

Le Bon grew out of an at‑home bakery that Kassem began about a decade ago, originally operating under the name The Sweet Spot. After sharing the venture on Instagram and highlighting her love for Lebanese pastries, the couple rebranded the business as Le Bon. Drawing on recipes passed down through their families in Lebanon, the café offers a menu that blends traditional flavors with innovations inspired by their time living in Qatar.

Signature items and menu highlights

Among the standout offerings is the café’s “coffee bun,” a buttery, flaky pastry coated in a dried‑coffee shell. The bun is available in several flavor variations, providing a distinctive breakfast or snack option for locals. Experimentation with drinks led the owners to create a baklava latte and a matcha latte, both of which have become permanent fixtures on the menu. Additional items include cheese‑and‑sesame pastries, croissants, and assorted cakes, all listed on the café’s website.

Why Sugar Land?

Elissa explained that the decision to locate in Sugar Land stemmed from a perceived gap in the market for authentic Lebanese pastries and specialty coffee drinks. “People thought we were crazy for doing this in Sugar Land, but I think a lot of people enjoy it,” he said. “I don’t think there’s anything like it here.” The couple lives in Sugar Land and believes the community will appreciate the blend of familiar comfort foods and novel flavors.

Opening timeline

Le Bon’s soft opening began this summer, allowing the owners to fine‑tune recipes and gauge customer response. The official grand opening is slated for the fall season, with the Riverstone location set to become a neighborhood gathering spot for families, friends, and anyone seeking a taste of Lebanese hospitality.

Community impact

Local business leaders have welcomed the addition, noting that Le Bon’s emphasis on family‑driven entrepreneurship aligns with Sugar Land’s tradition of supporting small, locally owned enterprises. The café’s opening is expected to create several jobs and add to the diverse dining options available in the area.

Residents interested in trying Le Bon’s offerings can follow the café’s social media channels for updates on the exact opening date and any special events planned for the launch.
