Internationally‑renowned Icelandic singer‑songwriter Laufey is marking the fourth edition of her annual fan gathering, “A Very Laufey Day,” on Aug. 23. The event, first launched in 2023 to celebrate her upcoming album Bewitched, has grown into a global cultural celebration.
Expanding reach and artistic focus
This year’s itinerary includes activities in 75 cities across 25 countries, centered on the theme “A Celebration of the Arts.” Participants can attend symphony concerts, ballet, jazz, opera and theater performances, as well as events hosted by libraries, bookstores, coffee shops and ice‑cream parlors.
Laufey’s concert film A Night at the Symphony: Hollywood Bowl will be screened at select theaters, and she has partnered with major museums such as New York’s Guggenheim, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, London’s Tate Modern, Chile’s Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes and Seoul’s Daelim Museum.
Making high culture accessible
Speaking about the event, Laufey said her goal is to lower the barrier of entry for her largely Gen Z and Gen A audience. “I want to make spaces like museums and orchestras fun and accessible, not intimidating,” she explained. Fans attending participating venues will also have the chance to purchase limited‑edition merchandise and enjoy Laufey‑themed specialty drinks.
Each “A Very Laufey Day” location follows a curated itinerary that reflects places the artist has visited and loved, encouraging fans to explore “third spaces” – community hubs such as museums, bookstores and cafés – and connect with one another offline.
Community response
Fans worldwide are dressing in vintage, Laufey‑inspired fashion to celebrate the unofficial holiday, turning the event into a vibrant, cross‑generational gathering that blends music, visual arts and local culture.
