Pink’s Hot Dogs, a family-run hot dog business from Los Angeles, is planning to open its first restaurant in Japan by the end of the year. The company confirmed the expansion, which will be a flagship location in Tokyo, in partnership with Japanese restaurant management company Sunpark.
Expansion Plans
The Tokyo restaurant is expected to offer about 15 varieties of hot dogs, along with hamburgers, side dishes, desserts, and drinks. Japan-exclusive items tailored to local tastes are also planned. Pink’s is known for oversized hot dogs featuring toppings including chili, cheese, bacon, jalapeños, and onion rings.
Pink’s traces its history to 1939, when Paul and Betty Pink began selling hot dogs from a pushcart they purchased for $50 near the corner of La Brea and Melrose avenues. The couple opened a permanent location on La Brea Avenue in 1946. The restaurant became known for its celebrity clientele and long lines and developed into a Los Angeles landmark.
