Las Cruces’ annual Jazz Arts Festival is teaming up with the Mesilla Valley Jazz and Blues Society to host a free Juneteenth concert at the Rio Grande Theatre. The event will feature El Paso-based musician David Rodriguez leading the Havana Quintet, a Cuban music group, in a mix of traditional and contemporary Cuban rhythms.
Juneteenth Celebration
Juneteenth, which takes place on June 19, is a federal holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the U.S. The free concert will be held on Sunday, June 21 at 2 p.m. at the Rio Grande Theatre, located at 211 N Main St.
