A serious crash on I-4 in Lakeland, Florida, has resulted in two people being taken to the hospital with critical injuries. The Florida Department of Transportation has confirmed that the westbound lanes of I-4 are closed to all traffic just west of Exit 38, near State Road 33 in Lakeland.
Crash Investigation
Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported the two injured individuals to the hospital. The cause of the crash and the total number of vehicles involved have not been confirmed by officials. The identities and current medical status of the two critically injured people have also not been released.
As a result of the crash, all westbound lanes of I-4 are being diverted off the highway at Exit 38. The westbound I-4 on-ramp from State Road 33 is also closed. Drivers in the area are advised to expect delays and seek an alternate route.
Separate I-4 Incident
In a separate incident, I-4 is also closed in the westbound lanes in Hillsborough County at Kingsway Road due to law enforcement activity on the overpass. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is asking drivers to avoid the area.
