La Viña Wine Festival Brings Community Celebration to Anthony Sep 19‑20

Anthony, N.M. – The La Viña Wine Festival kicked off its two‑day celebration on Saturday, September 19, with a noon opening that welcomed residents and visitors to sample a curated selection of over 20 wines. The festival, held in the heart of Anthony, combined wine tasting with live music, creating a lively atmosphere that encouraged conversation and dancing throughout the afternoon.

Family‑Friendly Fun and Community Spirit

Attendees of all ages enjoyed the event, with ticket wristbands granting access to wine tastings, a dance floor, and shaded seating areas. Adults paid $30 for admission, while teens aged 12‑20 entered for $10 and children 11 and under were admitted free. VIP tickets, priced at $100, offered additional perks for those seeking an enhanced experience.

Local resident Luz Gonzalez expressed her delight at having such an event in Anthony, noting that she does not often visit the town. “It’s a great idea to bring everyone together and offer a new experience for places like ours,” Gonzalez said.

Celebrations and Milestones

The festival also served as a backdrop for personal celebrations. One attendee marked his first wedding anniversary, while sisters Carla Villanueva and Sofia McDonald attended as an early birthday celebration. Villanueva highlighted the value of the event for families, saying, “We’re 30, we have kids, so it’s good to get babysitters and come together. The vibes are nice, the people are friendly, and the scenery is beautiful.”

McDonald added that the combination of music, wine, and community made the festival a standout event for Anthony. “It’s a great way to bring the community together, trying different wines, enjoying music, and connecting with everybody,” she said.

Local Hospitality Shines

Both Gonzalez and Villanueva praised the welcoming nature of Anthony’s residents. Gonzalez described the atmosphere as “a really friendly moment or experience,” emphasizing how the festival fostered a sense of togetherness. Villanueva noted that nearby El Paso lacks a comparable wine festival, making La Viña an important cultural offering for the region.

As the afternoon transitioned to evening, the wine continued to flow and the live band kept the dance floor lively. A surprise birthday celebration added an extra touch of festivity before the band took a short break.

Sunday Continuation

The festivities will resume on Sunday, September 20, from noon until 7 p.m., giving another opportunity for families and wine enthusiasts to enjoy the event. For more details, visitors can consult the La Viña website.

The La Viña Wine Festival underscores Anthony’s growing reputation as a hub for community gatherings, offering residents a chance to celebrate local culture, support small businesses, and enjoy quality time with family and friends.
