A new tiny home village in Sun Valley, Los Angeles, has opened, providing interim shelter for more than 200 residents attempting to transition out of homelessness. The project is part of a larger plan to build over 500 tiny homes across the city, according to Mayor Karen Bass.

Details of the Project

The site, located at the Sun Valley Metro Link Station, has 84 units available with a total of 208 beds for unhoused people. Residents will not have to pay rent, and the village will serve as temporary, transitional housing, where formerly unhoused people can receive operational services, including residential monitoring and security, three meals per day, and case management.

Mayor Bass stated that leveraging tiny homes as interim housing is a key part of the strategy to reduce the cost of housing homeless Angelenos and expedite the building of permanent housing across LA. The goal is for participants to find stability and eventually move into permanent housing.
