L3Harris Technologies has secured a $955 million contract from an agency under the U.S. Space Force to produce 18 satellites for the country’s Golden Dome missile defense shield.
The satellites are capable of detecting and tracking advanced missile threats, L3Harris said. The company will begin production of these satellites immediately.
This contract is part of the US effort to enhance its missile defense capabilities. L3Harris has expanded space and satellite manufacturing capacity in the U.S. over the last year in a bid to contribute to President Donald Trump’s Golden Dome plan.
