Larson initially didn’t plan to participate in the Knoxville Nationals due to his NASCAR commitment. However, a rain delay at the Knoxville Nationals provided him with an opportunity to fly to Iowa and join the race. With the help of a police escort, he arrived just in time to participate in the A Main race, which started after 1 a.m.
Larson dominated the 50-lap feature race, leading from start to finish, and took home the $200,000 top prize. This victory marked his fourth win in six years at the Knoxville Nationals.
