Burney Jenkins, a Kentucky high school sports official, was inducted into the National High School Hall of Fame on Monday. Jenkins has served as a referee, umpire, and assigning secretary for over 50 years.
Career Highlights
Jenkins has officiated six KHSAA state football championships, five basketball finals, and five baseball final four tournaments. He also officiated college games and one NFL game in 2001. In 2003-04, Jenkins was honored with the KHSAA Supervisor of the Year and inducted into the Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame.
Jenkins retired from Scott County Schools in 2022 and was elected Georgetown mayor. He is currently seeking re-election.
