Krum ISD has placed Krum High School head softball coach and teacher Mitchell Davis on administrative leave after his arrest on family violence-related charges, district officials said. Davis, who has served as a teacher and head softball coach at Krum High School since August 2022, was taken into custody on June 10 and booked into the Denton County Jail. He was released the same day after posting bonds totaling $15,000.
Charges and Allegations
Davis faces a charge of continuous violence against the family and assault of a family or household member by impeding breathing or circulation. The charge is classified as a third-degree felony and carries a penalty of 2-10 years in jail. According to a booking affidavit, the allegations involve Davis’ wife and her 14-year-old son. The teenager told investigators Davis had become increasingly physical with him over the past year and alleged that he had been pushed, shoved, restrained, and strangled on multiple occasions.
Davis’ wife also told Northlake police she witnessed an April 23 incident in which she saw Davis with his hand around her son’s neck following an argument in the family’s kitchen, according to the affidavit. She later sought a protective order against Davis in May. The district said it is cooperating with law enforcement and will continue to follow district policies and legal requirements as the case proceeds.
