KPMG Australia has fined several staff members up to $126,000 for their role in an audit scandal. The firm imposed penalties after an internal investigation confirmed that internal documents containing client information were inappropriately shared between individuals within the firm.

The scandal has led to the resignations of the firm’s CEO, audit boss, and chairman. Three senior audit partners have already been fined for misusing confidential board papers from real estate company Lendlease. Australia’s corporate regulator, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), is also investigating three partners over their role in the scandal.
