The Danube River in Romania has reached its lowest water levels in 30 years, causing issues for farmers and those in the shipping industry.
According to Romania’s state water-management agency, the water level at the Romanian entry point of the river was 1,700 cubic meters of water per second on Sunday, which is significantly lower than the July average range of 4,700 cubic meters per second.
The low water levels have led to irrigation restrictions for farmers and have disrupted shipping and tourism along the river’s banks.
However, heavy rain in several counties is expected to increase the water levels gradually from Monday.
