Killen’s Steakhouse reopens in Pearland after $1 million renovation

Chef Ronnie Killen announced the grand reopening of his flagship restaurant in Pearland this week, following a three‑month, $1 million renovation. The updated space features a quieter dining room, premium European tableware, and a new live‑fire hearth that promises an elevated steak experience for local diners.

Renovation highlights

The remodel introduces Austrian Zalto stemware and decanters paired with each wine, German Villeroy & Boch plateware, and French Mauviel copper service pieces. Sound‑dampening panels were installed to keep conversation easy, creating a more intimate atmosphere for families and couples alike.

In the kitchen, a hand‑crafted Mibrasa hearth from Spain’s Costa Brava region joins an 1,800‑degree infrared broiler, allowing the kitchen team to sear steaks at exceptionally high heat while preserving flavor and juiciness.

Chef Killen’s vision

“We get a second chance to make a first impression, and that’s rare in this business,” Killen said in the release. “I’m turning 60 in September, and I haven’t been this energized in a long time. We’re bringing things to Pearland that you can’t find anywhere else. I want to do something that all of Houston can be proud of, where other steakhouses come to see what we’re doing next.”

Menu refinements

The refreshed menu emphasizes classic steakhouse fare alongside inventive dishes such as Cointreau soufflés, jumbo lump crab cake with lemon butter, and jumbo shrimp. Signature items include Killen’s cream corn—based on his grandmother’s recipe—carrot cake, and a Crème Brûlée bread pudding. Several beloved dishes from the original 2006 menu are also returning, offering longtime patrons a taste of nostalgia.

Later this fall, Killen plans to launch a fine‑dining tasting menu, further positioning the restaurant as a culinary destination for both Pearland residents and the broader Houston area.

Community impact

The reopening adds a high‑end dining option to Pearland’s growing restaurant scene, supporting local employment and reinforcing the city’s reputation as a hub for quality food experiences. The investment reflects confidence in the local market and provides a gathering place for families, business meetings, and special celebrations.

Killen’s Steakhouse invites the community to experience the new space and menu, emphasizing a commitment to hospitality, craftsmanship, and the culinary traditions that have made the brand a staple of the Greater Houston dining landscape.
