The Wyoming Game and Fish Department, Hot Springs State Park, and community organizations are hosting a Kids Outdoor Day event on Saturday, Aug 29, in Thermopolis. This free event is open to the public, and no pre-registration is required.
Event Activities
Throughout the day, families will have the opportunity to visit various hands-on learning stations designed to enhance outdoor skills and knowledge. Participants can practice bear spray on a “robo-bear,” learn about owls by meeting Jupiter the great horned owl, paddleboard or kayak on the Cooling Pond, take a guided mountain bike ride or birding walk, practice archery, shoot air rifles, learn about macroinvertebrates and bison, and more.
The registration booth, located at the pavilion, opens at 9 a.m., and activities will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Activities are designed for families and kids ages 6 and up, and a parent or chaperone must accompany youth. Participants can come anytime during open hours, and most activities rotate every half hour. An activity map will be provided at the registration booth.
