A Louisville family is helping write a new chapter at the Kentucky Science Center. The Addie and Baylor Foundation presented a $50,000 check to the KSC on Tuesday. The money will be used to renovate the Discovery Gallery library.
Legacy of Addie and Baylor
Addie and Baylor were killed by a car while their family was vacationing in Florida in 2020. Their parents created a nonprofit in their honor, with the aim of expanding access to books and literacy for kids in the community.
“It’s Addie and Baylor’s legacy. I mean, this is them going forward. You know, everyone thinks that their kids are going to grow up and do great things, and Addie and Baylor are just doing it through their foundation,” said Matt Kirchgessner, Addie and Baylor’s father. “So this is our connection to them forever. And to know that their foundation can make an impact that it’s made on kids in six years. And this is just a small part of it, but it’s a big part of it. It just it’s our healing. It just it makes us feel good.”
Renovations are set to begin later this year.
