Kelly Osbourne Defends Father’s Legacy

Kelly Osbourne has come to the defense of her late father, Ozzy Osbourne, after Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider claimed that Ozzy did not write his own songs. Snider wrote on X that Ozzy ‘always’ had other people write his songs for him, specifically mentioning bassist Bob Daisley and Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister as frequent writers of Ozzy’s music.

Kelly’s Response

Kelly shared two text-heavy posts on her Instagram Stories, addressing Snider’s comments directly. She stated that her father’s legacy as a musician, songwriter, singer, and bandleader speaks for itself, and that his friends, colleagues, and fans know what he contributed to the music world. Kelly called Snider’s criticism ‘spectacularly classless’ and argued that he had little basis to speak authoritatively about her father’s career and legacy.

Kelly compared Snider and Ozzy’s careers, pointing out that Snider had a brief period of mainstream success over 40 years ago, while her father’s career spanned nearly six decades. She suggested that Snider’s criticism was an attempt to put himself back into the conversation, while her father’s ‘name, catalogue, and influence’ remain globally relevant.

Snider later returned to X to clarify that he has ‘nothing but love for Ozzy’ and that he was ‘always lovely’ to him. He explained that as a songwriter, he can be ‘a little touchy’ about credit and royalties.
