Judge Adam Levy, the son of ‘Judge Judy’ star Judy Sheindlin, says he could fix Los Angeles ‘in a month’ if he were mayor. Levy, who has starred in a few courtroom shows himself, believes the city needs a serious overhaul after a series of wildfires last year that destroyed thousands of homes.
Levy’s Plan
Levy has a checklist of what he’d do as mayor of Los Angeles to address some of the city’s issues, including crime and homelessness. He would focus on repeat offenders and violent offenders, and move first-time offenders into alternative programs. If first-time offenders fail to complete their community service, they would be prosecuted.
Levy also blasted judges who he said are trying to be friends with criminals rather than doing their jobs. He believes that as DA, he would focus his prosecutor’s attention on repeat offenders and violent offenders, and as mayor, he would appoint judges with the same mindset.
Comparison to New York City
Levy also discussed New York City, saying that it became so bad in the 1990s that even Democrats were willing to hire a Republican, Rudy Giuliani, as mayor. Giuliani’s ‘broken windows’ policy, which focused on strictly policing minor offenses, led to a significant decline in crime. Levy credits this policy with making New York City a safer place.
