Jonesboro rang in the nation’s 250th birthday in a big way this Fourth of July, with the America 250 Freedom Fest taking center stage at Arkansas State University. Described by local media as a “once in a lifetime” celebration, the event featured a fireworks display set to light up the sky over the A-State campus, with the show scheduled for 9:30 p.m. on July 4.
The festivities were part of the nationwide America 250 commemoration marking two and a half centuries of American independence — and Jonesboro made sure the occasion was one to remember for the whole community.
Adding to the patriotic spirit around town, the Jonesboro University Heights Lions Club stepped up to display U.S. flags across the community in honor of Independence Day. The volunteer effort by the Lions Club brought a colorful, flag-lined welcome to neighborhoods throughout Jonesboro, a fitting tribute to the milestone celebration.
Together, the Freedom Fest at A-State and the Lions Club flag display made for a Fourth of July that was both festive and community-minded — a reminder of what makes Jonesboro a great place to call home.
