Fairgrounds Administrator Casey Curtright appeared before the county commission to brief officials on the progress and outline the next steps.
Demolition and Site Preparation Completed Quickly
According to Curtright, the demolition phase wrapped up in just four days, well within the five‑day window originally set for the work. “We cleared the site and had everything cleaned up in four days, which is a testament to the efficiency of our contractors,” she said.
The removal of the old buildings cleared space for the new facility, which will feature modern amenities designed to accommodate a wide range of community events, from fairs and festivals to meetings and private gatherings.
Fire Marshal Permit Secured, Construction Mobilized
Curtright noted that the fire marshal’s permit was received this week, allowing the construction crew to mobilize equipment and begin foundational work. “With the permit in hand, we can move forward confidently and keep the project on schedule,” she added.
The county commission approved the necessary funding and expressed strong support for the project, emphasizing its importance to the local economy and community life.
