The City of Fate, Texas, has officially appointed John Taylor as the Fire Chief of the Fate Fire Department. Taylor, who has been serving as the Interim Fire Chief since November 2025, has been a committed member of the department since September 2013.
Experienced Leadership
Chief Taylor brings with him over 24 years of experience in the fire service and 22 years in law enforcement, having previously served with the Crandall Fire Department and the Heath Department of Public Safety. His extensive background in public safety and operational leadership has been instrumental in the growth and success of the Fate Fire Department.
Holding an Associate’s Degree in Fire Service Administration, Taylor is also certified as a Master Structure Firefighter and Master Peace Officer in the State of Texas. His comprehensive experience in fire suppression, emergency response, leadership, and law enforcement offers a unique perspective as he leads the department into the future.
Community Commitment
City Manager Michael Kovacs expressed his confidence in Taylor’s leadership, citing his professionalism, integrity, and servant-leadership mindset. Kovacs stated, “Chief Taylor’s dedication to public safety and commitment to our community make him the right leader to guide the Fate Fire Department as our city continues to grow.”
Chief Taylor himself expressed his honor in continuing to serve the Fate community. “It has been a privilege to serve the residents of Fate alongside the incredible employees of this department,” he said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue building on the strong foundation we have established while focusing on service, training, and preparing for the future needs of our community.”
The City of Fate anticipates that Chief Taylor’s leadership will continue to drive the department’s evolution to meet the needs of one of Texas’s fastest-growing communities.
