John Deere has proposed a two-year extension to its current collective bargaining agreement with United Auto Workers members in Des Moines and Waterloo, giving them until the end of August to decide.
Contract Details
The company said the offer is being made early due to decreasing demand for agricultural equipment and uncertainty in the market outlook. John Deere is proposing to keep all current benefits in place under the extension.
UAW leaders are reviewing the proposal, but the decision will ultimately come down to a vote among members. If the offer is approved, employees would receive a $3,000 ratification bonus.
The current contract, which was approved after a 35-day strike in 2021, is set to expire next fall. More details about the proposal are expected to be shared soon.
