Jesse Eisenberg Donates Kidney

Actor Jesse Eisenberg recently donated his kidney to a complete stranger. Eisenberg shared his experience on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, explaining that he learned about the possibility of donating a kidney and decided to go through with it.

The donation was pain-free, and Eisenberg now lives a “perfectly normal” life. He also mentioned that the recipient, who was on dialysis or dying, is now able to have a real life.

Altruistic Donation

Eisenberg donated his kidney through a nondirect donation at NYU Langone Health in New York, an act known as an altruistic donation. Most kidney donations are done directly to someone the donor knows, but Eisenberg chose to donate to a stranger.

According to the American Kidney Fund, there are over 90,000 people on the national transplant list in the U.S., and an average of 13 die every day while waiting. Eisenberg’s donation highlights the importance of organ donation and the impact it can have on people’s lives.
