Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, recently sat down with NBC 5’s Pat Doney to discuss the team’s quiet offseason and plans for the upcoming season.
Cowboys’ Offseason
Jones acknowledged that the offseason has been quiet, but expressed confidence in the team’s preparations for the new season. He noted that the lack of major news stories during the offseason can sometimes create a perception of inactivity, but emphasized that the team has been working hard behind the scenes.
AT&T Stadium, the Cowboys’ home stadium, hosted several 2026 FIFA World Cup matches over the summer, including the Spain-France semifinal. Jones discussed the stadium’s adaptability and its ability to host various events, including soccer and football games.
Support for Tony Romo
Jones also offered his support for former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, who was recently arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI). Jones praised Romo’s character and ability to overcome adversity, saying that he has no doubt Romo will get through this difficult time.
Jones also addressed recent NFL rule changes regarding private equity and minority stakes in teams, stating that he has no plans to sell the Cowboys or bring in outside investors.
