Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore is seeking a discussion with city and state leaders about the proposed Clark Memorial Bridge plan. The plan, which includes reducing the bridge from four lanes to three, has raised concerns among some drivers about increased traffic congestion.
Proposed Changes
The proposed changes would result in two lanes going northbound into Jeffersonville and one lane going southbound towards Louisville. Mayor Moore has expressed his concerns about the plan, citing potential traffic congestion and has invited Gov. Andy Beshear, Gov. Mike Braun, and Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg to discuss the proposed changes.
Moore’s initial letter to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) included alternatives to reducing lanes, such as toll reductions and restrictions on who can cross. His follow-up letter stated that Jeffersonville objects to reducing traffic into Louisville down to one lane.
A spokesperson from Beshear’s office said that Beshear would be happy to talk with officials about the proposed changes. Greenberg’s office also stated that he would be happy to discuss the matter with Moore.
