Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has sent a cease-and-desist letter to Louisiana State University (LSU) regarding the school’s decision to allow another player to wear the number 5 jersey, which Daniels wore during his time at LSU.
Daniels’ representative stated that he did not want his number given to another player and felt that the school’s decision was a failure to honor his accomplishments at LSU.
Background
LSU coach Lane Kiffin said that the player, D.J. Pickett, was promised the opportunity to wear the number 5 jersey when he signed with the school in December 2024.
Pickett, a former five-star recruit, wore the number 3 jersey as a freshman last year but is switching to the number 5 this season.
