Debra Bickle of Waterloo bought a Mega Millions lottery ticket at Walmart that matched the first five numbers and landed a $2 million prize.

She plans to share her prize with her family and renovate her home. Cashing the ticket meant moving up retirement by six months.

Since 1985, when the Iowa Lottery opened for business, nearly 200 players in Iowa have won lottery prizes of $1 million or more.

Iowa’s Biggest Lottery Winners

Iowa’s five biggest lottery winners have been Powerball players, including Lerynne West, of Redfield, whose $343.9 million jackpot is the state’s largest prize ever.

Prizes above $250,000 must be claimed in person at the Iowa Lottery headquarters in Clive.
