Iowa will experience a beautiful Friday afternoon with sunny skies and lower humidity, making for great weather. However, storms are expected to return on Saturday.
Weekend Forecast
Clear skies and low humidity brought a cool start to Friday morning. Plenty of sunshine will warm things quickly for Friday afternoon with highs in the low 80s. Quiet conditions will continue into the evening, with temperatures cooling back into the low 70s and upper 60s after sunset.
Our next chance for storms quickly arrives on Saturday. A few showers or storms are possible early in the day but should be drying up by the mid-morning hours. No severe weather is expected with this round of storms. Temperatures will climb into the low 80s by the afternoon with partly sunny skies.
Another wave of thunderstorms is expected to develop across central and southern Iowa by the afternoon. These storms could be on the stronger side, with large hail and gusty winds possible. While a tornado cannot be ruled out, the risk is lower on Saturday than our past couple rounds of storms.
Storms will move out Saturday night bringing back quiet and sunny conditions for Sunday. Cooler and drier air will move in as well, dropping highs into the low 70s Sunday afternoon and overnight lows into the lower 50s.
