Iowa State University’s athletic department has announced that it will start selling alcohol at sporting events in the 2026-27 season. This decision comes as the university faces financial pressures due to rapidly increasing costs in college athletics.
Changes to Gameday Policies
Along with the introduction of alcohol sales, there will be changes to some of the current gameday policies. Fans will no longer be allowed to leave Jack Trice Stadium and reenter at any point during the game. Guests must be 21 years of age or older to purchase alcoholic beverages and must provide legal identification at the time of purchase.
Sales will be limited to two alcoholic beverages per person, per sale. Beer, wine, and pre-packaged ready-to-drink cocktails will be offered. Alcoholic beverages will be sold in the north and south expanded gate areas, and the north and south concourses.
A portion of the net proceeds from the sale of all alcoholic beverages will support alcohol education, student wellness programming, and public safety enhancements to support a safe and welcoming community.
