The Iowa State Fair has temporarily closed its campgrounds to new arrivals due to heavy rain. The fair’s Facebook page announced that 2.5 inches of rain had fallen at the fairgrounds, making ground conditions too soft for new campers.
Vendor setup has also been paused, and officials are asking people to avoid the fairgrounds today unless they have official business. The campgrounds are expected to reopen at 8 a.m. on Thursday.
The State Fair is scheduled to run from August 13 to 23.
