The Iowa Court of Appeals has upheld the murder conviction of Isaac Bachman, a Fort Dodge man found guilty in the 2023 shooting death of 14-year-old Dakari James. Bachman claimed he acted in self-defense after an online dispute escalated and the victim came to his home.
The court rejected arguments that jurors were improperly instructed and ruled there was overwhelming evidence supporting the verdict. Bachman is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
