Arrowhead Stadium welcomed a truly global crowd this weekend as fans from Finland, England and Canada joined the usual sea of red and gold. The influx of international supporters underscores the expanding reach of Chiefs Kingdom and highlights the sense of family that the team cultivates among its followers.
Red Machine Party Bus draws overseas riders
Mark Coronado, owner of the Red Machine Party Bus, said that nearly every home game includes at least one passenger from abroad. “Our last home game we took in fans from seven countries,” Coronado told reporters. “Today our longest‑distance rider is from Finland.”
Coronado believes the bond among fans fuels the community’s growth. “Chiefs Kingdom has spread so far, so wide that people just want that feeling of being alongside other people that are Chiefs,” he explained.
English fans make the trek for the Jets matchup
For the recent matchup against the New York Jets, Michael Collins and Simon Connor flew in from England to catch a ride on the party bus. “I’m from Derby, England, and I live in London,” Collins said. “It’s a 13‑hour flight each way, so yes, it’s a trek, but we’ve enjoyed it.”
Collins’ love of the Chiefs dates back four decades. “Forty years ago, when I was ten or eleven, I had a pen‑pal in the United States who was a Chiefs fan,” he recalled. “That connection sparked my lifelong devotion.”
Welcoming atmosphere praised by visitors
Both Collins and Connor praised the hospitality they encountered in Kansas City. “Everyone is so welcoming, even in the bars,” they said. “When you come all this way, it feels like an amazing place and we appreciate the warm reception.”
Coronado sees these experiences as a tradition worth preserving. “When you find other Chiefs fans and bond, you feel like part of a family,” he said. “That’s what brings people back year after year.”
Community impact
The presence of international fans adds a cultural dimension to game days, enriching the local atmosphere and supporting nearby businesses. Restaurants, hotels and bars report higher patronage when overseas visitors attend, reinforcing the economic benefits of a thriving fan base.
As Chiefs Kingdom continues to attract supporters from across the globe, the shared love of football and the sense of belonging it creates remain at the heart of the experience for both locals and visitors alike.
