Initial Results from Aug 4 Primary Election Released

The initial results of the August 4th primary election have been released, revealing likely decisions by voters of candidates who will advance to the November general election. In Clark County, several races had more than two candidates, including the race for county auditor. Longtime auditor Greg Kimsey is not seeking re-election.

County Auditor Race

Mitchell Kelly and Eileen Quiring O’Brien will likely advance to the general election. Kelly’s professional experience includes service in the Clark County Auditor’s Office, including time as deputy county auditor. Kelly received 25,310 votes or 29.15%, while O’Brien received 24,956 votes or 28.74%. Vancouver City Councillor Ty Stober received 19,841 votes or 22.85%, and State Rep. Sharon Wiley received 1,528 votes or 10.22%.

County Council District 2

Current Councillor Michelle Belcott is leading with 9,334 votes or 51.18%. John Zingala, Vancouver Education Association union representative, appears to be her competitor in the November general election. Zingala received 6,360 votes or 34.87%, while Martin Pidioni received 2,544 votes or 13.95%.

County Council District 5

Current Clark County Council Chair Sue Marshall is not seeking re-election to the District 5 position. Battleground City Councilor Troy McCoy will face Charter Review Commissioner Peter Silliman in the November general election. McCoy received 10,169 votes or 52.54%, while Silliman received 9,184 votes or 47.46%.
